Benalmadena Pueblo is the old village that belongs to Benalmadena. A 10 minutes’ drive takes you to the coast with up to 10 kilometres’ of beaches. The locals love Blue Flag Santa Ana beach and snorkellers and scuba divers head for the beach at Tajo de la Soga.

Calahonda sits between Marbella and Fuengirola. There is a small beach on the doorstep but a 15 minute walk takes you to Cabopino beach which offers sunbeds and water sports. Marbella - Costa del Sol
Marbella has got 24 beaches across a 25-kilometre stretch from Guadalmina to Las Chapas via Puerto Banus. They come with dark sand or pebbles. Most do a great line in water sports, and several are backed by shops and restaurants on the Paseo Maritimo walkway. Casco Antiguo (the Old Town) is partly framed by 10th century Moorish castle walls and narrow streets weave past flower strewn balconies, leading you on through shady squares with orange trees, fountains and bustling cafés.

Nerja - Costa del Sol
Nerja, about 40 minutes transfer from Malàga has both sandy beaches and an all night bar scene. There’s a wealth of history for you to explore, the must visit is the Balcon de Europa, a viewing platform that was once part of a Nerja castle. King Alfonso XII had Nerja his holiday home in the 1880s, it must be good.

Puerto Banus- Costa del Sol
Puerto Banus is a millionaire’s playground with beach clubs, super yachts and a long strip of bars, clubs and designer boutiques along the water. The beach clubs have luxurious, sun loungers and a bar serving up cocktails and champagne all day. 10 minutes’ drive away is Nagueles Beach offering windsurfing, jet-skis and pedalos.
